Exterior painting for plastered and clad homes

Plaster and paint go together. The finish coat on a plaster system needs the right preparation and the right coating, and the timing matters. Having one crew do both means the substrate is prepared properly, the coats go on when the plaster is ready, and there's one person responsible for how it looks.

We paint new plaster, re-coat existing plaster and weatherboard, and refresh tired exteriors across Christchurch and Canterbury.

FAQ

Exterior Painting questions

Can you plaster and paint in the same job?

Yes, and it's usually the best way to do it. We schedule the painting so the plaster has cured properly, and you deal with one crew and one quote for the whole finish.

How often should a plastered exterior be repainted?

Most acrylic-coated plaster exteriors are due for a re-coat every 8 to 12 years depending on sun exposure and colour. Repainting before the coating fails is much cheaper than repairing the plaster underneath.

What time of year is best for exterior painting in Canterbury?

Spring through autumn is ideal, but we can paint on dry winter days as long as temperatures stay within the paint manufacturer's range. We'll be honest with you about timing.
